Joan Manzo (nee Scheffke), 85, of Griffith, IN, formerly of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Joan is survived by her children, Marian Rivera, Therese Vasquez, Fred (Kazuyo) Manzo, Sheila (John) Ancich, Carole (Brad) Ladwig, John Manzo (Brian Singh); grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Bell, Jillian (David) Prall, Rob (Kristina) McClure, Bryan (Jenni) McClure, Rachel Vasquez, Eric (Jade) Vasquez, Anthony Manzo, Matthew (Hayley) Ladwig and Elizabeth Ancich; great grandchildren, Kylie, Kayla, Truely, Holden, Calum, Zakeriah, Izaac and Izaiah; and beloved 20 year old cat, “Macy”.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Fortunato; son, Paul; and parents, Marie Tarajack and Andrew Scheffke.
Joan was a 1951 graduate of Thornton Fractional North High School in Calumet City, IL. She was a member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society, and a volunteer at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond.
She loved traveling, enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and nana, who will be dearly missed.
