Joan M. Hunter, 78, of 2738 Newberry Street, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Manor Care North following a brief illness.
Joan and her husband, Carl M. Hunter Jr., observed their 57th anniversary on December 21, 2008.
Joan attended Lycoming College and volunteered for the Williamsport Hospital Auxiliary and the Susquehanna Hospice.
Born February 2, 1931 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Charles A. and Martha Webster Strayer.
Surviving besides her husband are sons, Jeffrey C. Hunter of Williamsport, Timothy J. (Donna M.) Hunter of Whitehouse Station, NJ and William T. (Donna W.) Hunter of Camp Hill; daughters, Deborah J. (Timothy F.) Maggs of South Williamsport and Dana H. (W. Douglas) Larson of Hershey; a brother, G. William (Shirley) Strayer of Cogan Station; a sister, Catherine (Clem) Lombardi of Woodbridge, Conn.; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kristi Maggs, Melissa, Kristen, Monica and Jack Hunter, Michelle (Alan) Ennis, and Hunter and Eric Larson and five great grandchildren.
Joan was predeceased by siblings Charles S. Strayer and Marion Hamm.
