Joan M. Cuppy passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 26, 2009. She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on May 11, 1945 to Jones O. and Bonnie R. McNeely where her father was stationed in the military. The family traveled to many Air Force bases but Joan’s favorite was Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, GA., because of the many lasting friends she made there. She moved to Fort Walton Beach from Homestead, FL. when she retired from a long career in accounting in 2005. Her quest for adventure, her sense of humor and zest for life was an inspiration to all that knew her.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Alan Cuppy, her infant daughter Caroline Barnes and her father Jones O. McNeely. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Salsbury of Mary Esther, FL., her son Jeff Barnes of Portland, Oregon, her daughter Carrie Barnes of Fort Walton Beach, FL. her step-son James Cuppy of Sarasota. Fl., her step-son Carl Cuppy of Jacksonville, Fl., her step-daughter Pam Cuppy of Miami, FL., her mother Bonnie McNeely of Shalimar, FL., her sister Gloria Garrett and husband David of Shalimar, FL., her sister Lynda Penry and husband Roger of Fort Walton Beach, FL., her brother James McNeely and wife Dean of Foley, Al. Joan was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
