Joan M. Blackler, 75, of Plainville, passed away on Tuesday December 13, 2011 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.  She was the beloved wife for 56 yrs to Thomas Blackler.  Joan was born on July 26, 1936 in New Britain to the late Stanley and Ann (Roman) Kundra.  

Joan was a 40 year Plainville resident, who became known for all of her volunteer work. Joan loved to spend her time helping others and being involved in the community.  She was very active in the Plainville Senior Center, and was an avid Bingo enthusiast.  She was bus captain for the bingo trips to Foxwoods and spent every Thursday night playing.  Joan also enjoyed volunteering at the election polls.  She was a woman with a zest for life and touched many hearts along the way.

Along with her loving husband Thomas Blackler of Plainville, she leaves her children Gerry Wood and her husband Ed of New Hampshire; Tom Blackler and his wife Diane of Kansas; and Debbie Carpenter and her husband John of Newington, her 2 beloved grandsons Shawn Brown and Eric Carpenter along with several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother Stanley and 2 sisters Bertha and Mary.
