On March 1, 2019, Joan Juanita Praybe (nee Barrett), passed suddenly after a brief illness. She was 79.
Born of Henry and Hilda Barrett she would spend her early years in “Pigtown,” Baltimore. She later lived in Sun Valley for a few years, finally settling in Millersville in 1967.
A crafter and crochet enthusiast in the past, Joan had enjoyed shopping of late. It was said that she could never pass up a good bargain and she would take great pride in finding the best deals. She was also an avid cards and dominoes player enjoying a game of “bunco,” with her friends. Joan was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Anne Arundel County.
Joan will be best remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and special friend.
She joins her husband of over 50 years the late Albert S. (2008) as well as her eight siblings of which she was the youngest.
Joan is survived by her devoted daughter Dawn and son-in-law Norm, her loving grand-daughter Ciera and husband Chris Shields and her cherished great-grand daughter Olivia. She will truly be missed by all her family and friends.
