Joan Harmon Horsley, Ed.D.

Joan, 92, transitioned from this world on March 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family as she continues her eternal life with our Savior. A native of Brigham City, Utah, Joan recently relocated to Newnan, GA from the home she and her husband of 59 years shared in northwestern Montana. An accomplished musician and educator, Joan enjoyed a long and successful career as a school teacher in Utah and later in Southern California.

As a musician and music instructor, she touched the lives of a multitude of students of all ages, serving God through her passion for music. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Col. Arthur “Scott” Horsley USAFR, her parents Altamont and Alice Harmon, brothers Judd Harmon and Bruce Harmon, and sister Sheron Harmon. She is survived by her daughters Jody (Tony) de la Motte Hurst and Michele Horsley, Sons Brian (Cathy) Horsley, Chris (Robin Berry) Horsley and Todd (Leah) Horsley. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Plans for visitation and celebration of life will be announced via personal invitation.

She will rest alongside her husband at the Montana Veterans Cemetery in Missoula, Montana at a time and date to be determined later. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Donald W. Nixon Centre for Performing and Visual Arts.
