NORWICH – Joan H. Norton, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 in Hartford, CT. She was the Mother of Nancy J. Bristol and Marguerite Yates (deceased in 2006); grandmother of Joseph M. Cannavo, Jakob Knorr and Morgan Fox; aunt to Francis J. Norton and Carol Sullivan; and great-grandmother of Dhillon and Nik Cannavo. Born June 30, 1926 to Francis J. and Mary C. (née Kennedy) Norton in Manhattan NY, the younger sister of the late Francis (Frank) J. Norton, Joan grew up in New York and resided there for much of her life. In the 1970s, she moved to Norwich, CT to be close to her dear brother and that became her principle residence. Joan worked in the travel industry for many years and finished her working career as an employee of the State of Connecticut, retiring from state employment in 1992.A die-hard New Yorker, Joan never lost her love of the city despite her relocations across the country. Throughout her life, Joan was a vivacious personality—tenacious, always outspoken and a friend to many.
