Joan DaLee, age 89 of Trussville, passed away in the early morning hours of February 3. Her favorite things in life were her family, her dogs, travel, laughing, parties, playing bridge, rainbows, ice cream, Crimson Tide football, and white wine! She had a sweet disposition (most of the time) and made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was a voracious reader and kept the local library busy. She was a breast cancer survivor who loved a good joke and had a joyful soul.

Joan was a long-time member of the Episcopal Church, most recently at Holy Cross in Trussville. She was a cheerful Christian who loved God, volunteered at Carpenter House, served on the altar guild, the ECW, was a member of a Cursillo reunion group, and gave of herself through several charities, including the Birmingham Museum of Art.

While Joan attended the University of Alabama she was elected president of the Beta Mu chapter of Alpha Phi sorority. She graduated with a degree in Cultural Anthropology. She also has a degree in theological education from University of the South – also known as Education for Ministry.

She and her late husband, Bill loved to travel. There was a running joke among friends (you know who you are!) that Joan would accept the offer of a trip anywhere, even to the local dump!

She is survived by her two daughters, Luann DaLee and Kathryn DaLee Brooks (Ray), two grandsons, Steven Ray Brooks and Matthew William Brooks, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband William Wightman DaLee, Jr. and parents, Rhea Fayssoux and Dorma Blitchington Fayssoux. The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers Amilue Hudgins, Carolyn Spann and Lou Earl Long. You are family.
