Lakeland – Joan “Joanie Baloney” Jenkins Williams, 53, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014, after a long and heroic battle with breast cancer.
Mrs. Williams was born July 19, 1960 in Monrovia, CA to Douglas and Doris Jenkins. She and her family moved to Lakeland in 1969. Mrs. Williams was a 1978 graduate of Lakeland Senior High School. She moved to Bryson City, NC in 1986, but returned to Lakeland in 1997. She married Jesse Williams in 2001. Mrs. Williams was employed by Lakeland OBGYN, for six years, where she served as an administrative assistant. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, scrapbooking and jewelry making.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her beloved father, Douglas Jenkins. She is survived by her husband, Jesse Kent Williams; daughter, Shasta Britton Cole and her family; mother, Doris Jenkins; sister, Donna Phelps and her family; brother, Ronnie Jenkins and his family; and many other loving family members and devoted friends.
