Joan Elouise Gladfelter, 98, of Knoxville, died at 12 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.

Joan was born on October 2, 1919 in Savanna, the daughter of Martin G. and Estella B. (Clark) Anjal.  She married James Sylvester Gladfelter on August 31, 1957 in Aledo.  He preceded her in death on December 23, 1968.  Joan is survived by three sons, Larry (Carolyn) Moore of Mt. Pleasant, IA; Alan (Terry) Moore of Rock Island; and Donnie (Paula) Gladfelter of Williamsfield; and one daughter, Laurel (Rick Frisby) Gladfelter of Milwaukee, WI.  Joan was a beloved grandmother to 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 19 great great grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Joan worked as a waitress for many years, working at the Friendly Café, Marge’s, and the View Point.  She also managed Golden Cream Dairy during the 1960’s.   Joan also was a seamstress for many years and made numerous wedding gowns.  She was a longtime member of the First Church of God in Galesburg.
