Joan E. Crawford, 78, of South Jacksonville, IL died Oct. 8, 2021, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Dec. 18, 1942, in Peoria, the daughter of Reuben and Daisy Gruber Lundberg. She married William H. “Bill” Crawford on July 24, 1964, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2000.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Amy) Crawford of Carthage; two grandsons, Carston Crawford and Kellen Crawford, both of Jacksonville; and her former daughter-in-law, Tina Smith-Crawford of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one granddaughter, Olivia Crawford.
Mrs. Crawford was a 1960 graduate of Delavan High School, and then graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She began her nursing career at Our Saviour’s Hospital, and then worked for Dr. Warner Newcomb. She also worked many years at Barton W. Stone Christian Home, as well as Morgan/Scott Visiting Nurses Association. She retired after serving 43 years as a Registered Nurse. Joan was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, and the Women on Snow Snowmobiling Group in Wisconsin for over 30 years. She enjoyed playing bunco and dominos, swimming, the Green Bay Packers and watching the NBA. She loved her cats, and especially loved her grandchildren.
