Joan Calhoun Wallman passed away to be with our Lord with her family members surrounding her with love on November 1, 2019. She was born May 8, 1940, in Bronx, New York to Margaret “Pearl” Mehaffy and James Boyd Calhoun from County Tyrone, Ireland.
Joan, also known as “Mema”, lived a very full and beautiful life alongside her best friend and love of her life, Roger Wallman. Roger and Joan were married 56 years and they lived each day to the fullest. Even in her last days, she would not miss the opportunity to attend a family gathering.
Joan was always her happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She took great pride in her kids and grandkids as she cheered them on during their basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer games. She enjoyed attending their tennis matches, award ceremonies, and graduations.
Not an event would go by without her there beaming with joy. Some of Joan’s favorite things were long conversations, the opportunity to dance, walks on the beach, the challenge of a puzzle, and a good bowl of ice cream. Her faith was strong and she was known as a devoted, dedicated, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will truly be missed, but her smile and love will live on.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Roger Wallman, her loving children and their spouses, Kenneth and Amy Wallman, Richard and Jennifer Wallman, David and Alicia Wallman, her brother and spouse, William and Carolyn Calhoun, her brother-in-law, Dr. Drew Wallman, her sister-in-law, Andrea Wallman, her sister-in-law Elizabeth Bard, her nieces, Jennifer Burns, Joanie Lolacono, and Zosha Bilyeu. She also leaves behind her six grandchildren that she loved and cherished very much, Lauren, Robyn, Olivia, Anders “Andy”, Sean, and Heather.
