Joan B. Linney, 66, of Hellertown, Pa. passed away, Saturday, February 21, 2015. Joan and her husband, Robert E. Linney celebrated 20 years of marriage on March 19, 2014. Born on October 14, 1948 in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary Louise (Jenkins) Burkhardt. Joan worked for Christmas City Studios and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She is a member of Mountain View Moravian Church, Hellertown, and a former member of Edgeboro Moravian Church in Bethlehem, where she participated as an Elder, sang in the choir, directed the children’s choir, was a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader, and started the Garden Committee. Joan was also a charter board member of the Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living, a member of the Consumer Advisory Counsel of OVR, The Red Hats Society, The Attendant Care Advisory Committee and The PWDD Luncheon Committee. Survivors: surviving with her husband, Robert, is a son, Devon J. Cury and his wife, Meg of Virginia; daughters, Heather A. Bowers of Washington, D.C., Danielle L. Wood and her husband Jason of NJ, and Sasha L. Linney and her husband, Stephane Martin of NY; 7 grandchildren, Ryan, Katie, Brendan, Colin and Quinn Cury and Noah and Liam Wood; a brother, William Burkhardt and his wife, Barbara; a sister Louise Kwiatek and her husband, Tom all of Bethlehem.
