Mrs. Joan Anderson Smith, aged 89, passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, 23 October. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was born October 2, 1931 in Columbia, Mississippi. She met and married Air Force Lieutenant Bobby Davis Smith in 1951 and commenced a 30 year worldwide adventure as an Air Force wife. While she loved being a mom – her greatest joy came from her role as Nana to her six grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bobby, and her two sons, Matthew and Raymond. She is survived by her daughter, Phala Lea Patton-Reed (Ken) who was both her friend and her “partner in crime” for many fun escapades. She is also survived by the grandchildren who were the light of her life. Bryan Patton (Taylor) who blessed her with her first great-granddaughter and namesake Joanna River; Kelsey Joan Stenberg (Jacob); Eryn Elizabeth Patton (Donnie Decker); Ian Brunson Reed, Phala Grace Reed, and Mason Morris.
