Daughter of Millard and Angie (Evans) Drury, was born April 5, 1927, on a Sac County farm near Everly, Iowa. Jo was baptized at Methodist Episcopal Church in Everly on April 1, 1934. She received her education in Everly but attended Spencer High School her senior year, graduating in 1945. Jo studied at Iowa State Teachers School and received her diploma in 1952. She taught in Oregon and Renwick, Iowa. Jo married Robert Block on December 15, 1954, in Spencer, Iowa. The couple farmed and raised their son near West Bend, Iowa. Jo owned and operated Jo’s Gift Shop in West Bend. She was a devoted mother and farmwife. She was a creative decorator and liked to entertain. Jo was a Bible school teacher, an active member of the West Bend Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the drama club. She was also a faithful member of the Peace Lutheran Church in West Bend. Jo died September 3, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona, Iowa.
She is survived by her son Troy Block and his wife Courtney of Ottosen, Iowa, grandson Greyson Block, and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Bob in 2010, brothers Wilson and Franklin Drury, sisters Fran Limmeroth and Harriet, and grandson Daniel Block.
