Jo Anne (Woodall) Wooten, age 72, passed away on April 8, 2020 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born July 25, 1947 in Stab (Pulaski County), KY to Cecil Clayton Woodall and Ira Willene (Raney) Woodall.
Jo Anne was of the Baptist faith and loved spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and a writer of short stories. She enjoyed watching TV mysteries, old Westerns and playing with her beloved dog, Gizmo. She was also fondly known as Jo, Jodi and Meemaw. Jo’s mischievous sense of humor and laughter was delightful! She loved recalling old childhood memories and a favorite was, together with younger brothers and sisters, finding and playing with adorable black and white baby “kittens” in the barnyard. Mom, of course, knew them to be skunked and met all her children at the kitchen door for a strip down and fierce tomato juice scrubbing!
Jo is survived by her children; Greg (Christine) Carey of Indianapolis, IN, Leslie (Jon) Thorpe of Pine Mountain Club, CA – sisters, Sara (Kerry) Silvers of Campbellsburg, IN, Mary (David) Such of Greenwood, IN, Terri Newbold of Franklin, IN, Tina (Ed) Robinson of Birmingham, AL, Lisa (Troy) Phelps of Beech Grove, IN and Julie Woodall of Greenwood, IN – brothers, Gary Woodall of Franklin, IN and Eric (Karen) Woodall of Greenwood, IN. She is also survived by three grandchildren (Marcus, Erica, and Alex), two great grandchildren (Zoe and Bodhi) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry McCarty; a son, William Sean Carey, her parents Cecil and Willene Woodall, and brothers Cecil “Butch” Woodall and Larry Woodall.
