JoAnne Powers, 65, formerly of Exchange St., New Haven passed away Oct. 23, 2015 in Canon Hospice, Gulfport, MS. after a lengthy illness. Born in New Haven on Sept. 3, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Deborah Hemingway Powers. Prior to her illness, she was a front desk clerk at the former Residence Inn at Long Wharf. She also worked at Cody’s Diner on Water St. in New Haven and had her own roofing business. She was also an avid reader and was a cancer survivor. She is survived by one son, Joseph Burwell of New Haven; two daughters, Jody Goding of Clinton and Kelly (Robert) Good of Bay St. Louis, MS.; a brother, George Powers of Florida; three sisters, Gladys Eaton of New Haven, Debra Fresenius of North Branford and Lorrayne Dorsi of West Haven; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
