Jimmy Neil Barker Sr. of Boles, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Waldron, Arkansas. Jimmy was born August 18, 1946 to William Park Barker Sr. and Jean (Sims) Barker in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Jimmy was 68 years, 6 months and 10 days old. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Jimmy loved the Lord.

Jimmy met the love of his life Velma Mai McPherson and in 1963 he made her his wife. Together they had 2 children and one precious grandson. Jimmy loved all his family and treasured times when they would all gather. Jimmy loved talking to people. He never met a stranger. When Jimmy wasn’t working at the Arkansas Highway Dept. he loved to go deer hunting and he especially enjoyed horse racing. Jimmy was a member of the Waldron Masonic Lodge #132 F&AM.

Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Velma Mai (McPherson) Barker of the home, one daughter, Doris Stuart and husband Larry, one son, Jimmy Barker Jr., one grandson, Easton Barker Evans, the apple of his “Pops” eye and his fiancee Courtney Stafford, and his mother, Jean Barker all of Scott County Arkansas. Jimmy will forever remain in the hearts of his three sisters: Brenda Taylor and husband Joe, Becky Parks and husband Ronald and Paula Helton and husband, Brian and three brothers: Park Barker and wife Diane, John Barker and wife Judy and Joe Barker. Jimmy will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives that were impacted by him including, a host of nieces, nephews, and abundance of family, friends and loved ones.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, William Park Barker Sr., maternal grandparents: Hurbert & Dovie Sims, and paternal grandparents, Ruben & Parilee Barker.
