     Mr. Jimmy Navis Smallwood, 77, of Lanett, Al., went to be with his heavenly Father and family on Saturday, June 14, 2014.

     Mr. Smallwood is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Tinsley Yates Smallwood; six children, Jeff (Susan) Smallwood, Tammy Smallwood, Karen Crow, Todd (Lisa) Smallwood, Warren Smallwood, and Lauren (Kerry) Miles; five grandchildren, Steven (Teresa) Smallwood, Russell (Carol Beth) Smallwood, Tinsley (Devin) Forbus, Lindsey Atkins, and Mitchell (fiancee Ashley White) Smallwood; two great grandchildren, Aiden Atkins and Brantley Atkins; great grandchild soon to be, Blakelee Forbus; three sisters, Joan Prestridge, Brenda (LaDon) Morton, and Linda (Rev. Lynn) McClain; brother, Edward (Ann) Wilder; two brothers in law, Robert “Bob” Yates and Charlie Kalal; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and too many friends to name; three faithful dogs, Cassie, Maggie, and Molly.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Hazel Smallwood; sister, Charlotte Smallwood; grandparents, Amos & Lessie Smallwood and Oscar & Margaret Newman; mother in law, Lillian Yates; step mother, Dorothy Smallwood.

     Mr. Smallwood was born on March 18, 1937 in Lanett, Al.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He was a member of the First Christian Church of Lanett all of his married life and also served as deacon for many years.  Any time a grandchild or great grandchild said “let’s play ball” he was ready to go out.  He loved working with his beagles since he was a young man.  He also loved working in the yard and always had a big garden and helped can the foods.  He worked for West Point Pepperell for 49 years and 8 months.  He never missed a day of work until the death of his mother in 1973.  He was an avid Duke Basketball, Boston Red Sox, and University of Alabama football fan.
