Jimmy “Jim” L. Mitchell, 87, of Anderson, passed away on April 2, 2020, at his residence.
He was born in Jamestown, IN, on October 25, 1932, the son of Ervin O. and Lucy E. (Phelps) Mitchell.
Jimmy graduated from Elwood High School in 1951.
He retired from Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in October, 1981, and had also worked at Northgate True Value for several years.
Jimmy was a member of the Moose Lodge #150, Eagles #1771, U.A.W. Local 662, United States Bowling Congress, Anderson Horseshoe Association, National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, Meadowbrook Golf Course, and had a fellowship degree from the Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his loving wife, Clara (Yereb) whom he married in 2014; children, Brenda (Garry) Brown, Michael (Debra) Mitchell, Victoria Hill, June (Bill) Taylor, Penny Brown, Tracy (Tracy) Mitchell, Tim (Connie) Ifert Angela Terry, and Laurie Ifert; 24 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; sister, Marcia (Phil) Moser; several nieces and nephews.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Davis) Mitchell; sons, Steve and Jeff “Silver Fox” Ifert; siblings, Butch Mitchell, Carolyn Gaskill, and Kay Cox.
