Jim was a beloved father and grandfather, a devoted husband, a roofer, a mechanic, a drag racer, classic car enthusiast, he played the guitar and sang, a gamer, a Jack of all trades.
Jim had spent the last 18 years of his life trying to recover from a stroke that damaged his brain and took away his mobility. He was well known by the staff at his nursing home for giving the nurses and others a hard time. He always had a stash of Werther’s hard candy nearby and never turned down a Baconater and a coke from Wendy’s.
Prior to that he could be found with a glass of sweet tea in the garage working on a racecar or a neighborhood kid’s bicycle. If he wasn’t in there tinkering on one of his Camaros he was inside in his favorite spot on the couch watching drag racing or Star Trek with his sons.
His younger years were full of racing with his brothers and friends. They did a lot of hauling hay and roofing.
