….A native of Sones Chapel Community, MS, he was a retired Freight Supervisor for Eastern Airlines, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Picayune. Jimmie served two years in the US Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He also served seven years in the US Army National Guard. Jimmie was a member of the Moses Cook Lodge and was a retired Farm Bureau Director. Jimmie was a Private Pilot for numerous years, and was a devoted Christian and family man who put his family first in his life..He was preceded in death by his parents, J.V. Owen and Mayde Rester to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Hilda Ree Barber Owen; his children, Wayne (Sandra) Owen, Toni Owen Larkin, and Lynnette Owen (Joe) Whitfield; his 5 grandchildren, Greg (Patricia) Mecomber, Justin Whitfield, Stephanie Whitfield, William (Kendra) Moran, and Melissa (Bobby) Brignac; his sister, Peggy Owen (Aubrey) Gipson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
