Jimmie Lee Williams, 65, died August 20, 2017. He was born in Newnan, GA and was currently residing in Port Orange, FL.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Janise (Pope) Williams, and a sister, Delores Williams (Larry) Phillips of Newnan, GA, several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Meriam Williams, brothers Charlie Joe (Irene) Williams, Robert Williams (Jasper, GA) and Donald Williams (Newnan, GA).
Jimmie was a very outgoing, caring individual. He was an avid Southern Gospel musician and enthusiast. Additionally, Jimmie was dedicated to New Hope Baptist Church and participated with their Thailand Mission Team for several years. Camping, playing in the ocean and playing Santa were among the hobbies about which he was very passionate.
Jimmie was also about serving the people and the communities in which he lived. He was a fireman for Coweta County (GA) and Peachtree City, GA. Desiring a career change, Jimmie went to school to become an EMT and then a paramedic with various emergency medical services. Wanting to give even more of himself, he went to nursing school, becoming an RN working at local hospitals. Jimmie worked at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a nurse where he was a favorite among both patients and hospital staff.
At the time of his death, Jimmie had moved his care skills to the hospice field. He was employed by Halifax Hospice as an admissions nurse.
