North Ogden, Joseph James “Jim” Stegen died Thursday, August 26, 2021 in a local rehabilitation facility of natural causes.

He was born on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1943 in Ogden, Utah, the 1st child of Joseph William Stegen Jr. and Fae Parkinson.

Jim lived all his life in the Ogden area and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1961.

He worked in the Bon Marche as the shipping and delivery manager when he was 26.  He started Stegen’s Repair (later Stegen’s Car Care).  He won several outstanding customer service awards.  He was very creative, hardworking, and meticulous with every car repaired and all his artistic creations.  “If you love your job, you never have to work a day in your life”.

He was a member of the Stags Car Club, the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, Lewis Peak Lions Club, the Marine Reserves 45th Rifle Company, several square dance and round dance clubs.  He has a vintage care collection and hosted many parties after hours for different organizations; Chamber of Commerce, car clubs, square dances, Wasatch Master Coral Fall Socials, roasted pig parties; even a wedding.

On February 26, 1966 he married Christine Ellen Donohue.  From this union 2 children; Shannon Stegen (Dan) Shirra, Shane Marlow (Kim) Stegen, 6 grandchildren; Darby Rae, Nicholas (Kassy), Mason, Cache, Parker (Teodora), Alexander James, and 6 great grandchildren; Ava, Carson, Asher, Trace, McKoy and Paisley, sister Kathleen (Joseph) Stilwell, nephews; Jonathan and Joseph Stilwell.  He is preceded in death by his brother David William who died in infancy and his parents.
