Schrepel, James B. (Jim)
85, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully on December 2nd, 2010. Jim was born on December 16, 1924, in Grand Island Nebraska to Clarence and Elizabeth Schrepel, the eldest of six children. After graduating from Lincloln Central High School in 1943, he entered basic training in the Army Air Corps, and then later was assigned for Aviation Cadet training in Denver, Colorado. In 1943, he began advanced flight training in AT-6 aircraft at Luke Air Force Field, in Phoenix, Arizona, where he received his wings and commision as a 2nd Lieutenant on December, 23 1944. Just after he completed his tactical fighter training in the P-47-A/B, VE Day occurred, and the war ended. He remained on active duty and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in December of 1984. Jim then joined the Air Force Reserve. He later entered the University of Nebraska and graduated with a B.S. degree in architectural engineering in 1959. In 1963 Jim accepted a position at the Pentagon with the Department of Defense in Washington, and became an engineer in the Army National Guard. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in December of 1984 having served over 40 years.
