Jim Lawrence, 82 of Greensburg, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood. Jim was born on June 20, 1932, in Greensburg, the son of Edward and Irene (Barnes) Lawrence.
Jim served during the Korean Conflict as a paratrooper with the 127th Airborne Engineers of the 11th Airborne Division. He received his insurance license in 1956 and worked as a Life and Property/Casualty Insurance Agent. Jim was a member of the Greensburg American Legion Post 129, Forty & Eight, and the 11th Airborne Division Association. Jim was an avid baseball fan and had been a Cincinnati Reds season ticket holder for a long time. Jim loved sports, architecture, history, and most of all, his family.
He was married to Dixie Banister on September 26, 1953, at the First Methodist Church in Greenfield, In., and she survives. Jim is also survived by children; Lisa (Tim) Conk, Greensburg, Neil (Teresa) Lawrence, Greenfield, Tammy Woodard, Evansville, Barbara (Ray) Brown, Evansville, David (Denise) Lawrence, Greensburg, grandchildren; Aaron (Ashley) Conk, Mike (Melissa) Conk, Andy Conk, Ryan (Anita) Lawrence, Hillary (Matt) Ebejer, Kellen (Kate) Lawrence, Dawn (Jesse) Schwindel, Wayne (Malissa) Woodard, Paige Lawrence, David Lawrence, Olivia Lawrence, and Alyea Lawrence, great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Conk, Alexander Conk, Nolan Conk, Parker Conk, Miles Lawrence, Luka Lawrence, Jesse Schwindel, Kylee Schwindel, Ethan Lawrence, Nyla Lawrence, Braxton Lawrence, and ready to welcome Bailee Schwindel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers; Ed and Dale Lawrence.
