Jim lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, November 29th, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 22, 1950 in Dexter, IA to Ronald and Doris Girard.
He started his education in Casey, IA and moved to Manson to finish and graduate in 1968. On June 22, 1972 he married the love of his life Deb Langenwalter. They made their home in Manson and raised two children Travis and Tracy.
Jim worked a few years at the Illinois Central Railroad. Then went to work at the Rockwell City Correctional Facility for 15 years and transferred to the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility where he retired after working there another 15 years.
He loved the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Chiefs and never missed one of his grandkids sporting events. Everyone that knew Jim, knew his sarcastic and witty ways. But overall, his true passion was his family son Travis (Kelli) Girard, daughter Tracy Girard (Scott Slawson), grandchildren Nick, Derek, Devin, Jake Girard and Hazey Slawson.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Deb, son Troy, brother Joe, father Ron, and mother Doris.
