Jimmie Dixon Sr., a native and resident of the Frankville community, answered the Master’s call on Monday, April 11, 2022, while at SAAD Hospice in Mobile. He was 91. Jim was born May 27, 1930 to the parentage of Eathin Manuel Dixon and Willie Rufus Dixon.
Deacon Dixon was a faithful and dedicated member of the Whole Truth COGIC under the leadership of Supt. Solomon Smith, where he served on the deacon board. Deacon Dixon loved his church and praising and worshipping the Lord in singing and prayer. During his spare time, before his health began to fail, he loved fishing, gardening, being a mechanic and playing his guitar.
Deacon Dixon was married to the late Martha Ree Washington Dixon for 69 years, who passed away on Dec. 25, 2020.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his eldest son, Jimmie Dixon Jr.; brothers, Charlie Dixon, Willie D. Dixon and Scott Dixon; sisters, Lee Helen Dixon Boman and Betty Jean Dixon Johnson.
Left to forever cherish his memories are his devoted sons, Don (Debra) Dixon of Frankville and Will Woodard (Maxie) of Shady Grove; two daughters, a devoted and caring caregiver, Ruth Morris of Frankville and Gloria (Quincy) Herrin of Wiggins, Miss.; a devoted and loving sister, Crezeel Sellers of Jackson; two sisters-in-law, devoted Edna Dixon of Frankville and Bertha Washington of Tamper, Fla.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
