Jim Darrell Tidmore, age 73, went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2022, in a Temple hospital with family at his side.
Jim was born December 6, 1948, in Houston, the son of Hazel Bernice (Tidmore) Reed and Daniel James Reed. He grew up on the Northeast Side of Houston with his 5 siblings and graduated from M.B Smiley High School in 1968.
Jim married the love of his life, Kathleen “Kay” Page, July 26, 1980, in Houston and became the proud father of their only son, Darrell. Some of his fondest memories were the time spent hunting with Darrell and attending Darrell’s sports activities and games, including baseball, soccer, basketball and track. The couple moved from Houston to their dream home on Lake Belton in 2016 where they both became members of Vista Community Church.
Although Jim came from a humble beginning, he became a highly skilled union Metal Lather and continued to work in that field for 45 years. Jim was truly a hard worker and would likely still be working had he not lost his limbs and the ability to work. Jim truly enjoyed the craftmanship of his work, he was called to do intricate ornamental metalwork in churches and buildings all over the country and as far as away as Europe.
Jim was a colorful storyteller and a lifelong car enthusiast. He loved to entertain us with stories about his ‘muscle cars”, his escapades and lifelong adventures. Jim rarely had a bad word to say about anyone and always loved being around people. After moving to Belton, he became a member of the Wildflower Antique Car Club.
Jim overcame many obstacles in his life, yet he remained the most lighthearted and steadfast friend and encourager to all who knew him. He had a way of making you feel comfortable and had the quickest jokes to add laughter to every setting. His decision to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior while at Houston Vineyard Church and the support of his loving wife, Kay, gave him the courage and determination to live his life to the fullest.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Jeanine Gillerman and Janice Yates; and his brother, Jerald Tidmore.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Kay Tidmore: son, Darrell Tidmore and Amanda; grandson Hunter Tidmore; his brother James Reed, sister Linda Rollins as well as numerous other family members and friends.
