Jim F. “Butch” Looper, 70, husband of Gwendolyn Whetsell Looper, entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2016 at his residence.

Butch was born on August 30, 1946, in Highland Park, Michigan, a son of the late Jim Frank Looper, Sr. and Helen Tuboly Looper.  He was a veteran with the US Airforce and an assistant Public Works Director with Orangeburg County.  He was a member of the Duncan Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a former Trustee and a member of the American Legion.

Surviving is his wife, Gwendolyn W. Looper, Bowman; a son, Michael Bradley (Cailee) Looper, Warwick, Rhode Island; a granddaughter, Cassidy Nicole Looper; brothers, Jerry David (Donna) Looper, Bowman and Thomas Donald Looper, Branchville; a sister, Deborah Ann Jennings, Orangeburg; brothers-in-law, Gene (Kathie) Whetsell, Green Pond and Dr. Ashley (Darla) Whetsell, Irmo; sister-in-law, Patty Whetsell; a special cousin, Hazel Zupan Smith and husband Jerry, Easley; and, a number of nieces and nephews.  A special thank you to Dr. Matthew Beldner and his staff at Lowcountry Hematology and Oncology and Piedmont Hospice.
