Jewell Elaine Lofton was born on July 20, 1937, in Denver Colorado to William Henry Lofton and Lillian Mae Vivian Jones Lofton. She was the ninth of nine children born in the family. Jewell was educated in the Denver Public School system and graduated from Manual High School in 1955. She furthered her education and earned her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado. Jewell worked for the Department of Defense for over 30 years and retired as a Pay Technician.
