Jewel L. Freeland, 87, of Anderson, passed away on May 7, 2013 at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
She was born on October 6, 1925 in Indianapolis and resided the last 13 years in Anderson. Jewel retired from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway after 30 years of service. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, President of the Church Women United of Madison County, and the American Legion Post #117. Jewel is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Robert Green of Pendleton; grandchildren, Robert E. Tabitha Green II, Andrew J. Melissa Green, Brittany D. David Case; great-grandchildren, Robert E. “Tres'” Green III, Emily J. Hofmann, Baleigh N. Green, Ethan D. Case, Rachel J. Hofmann , Makenzie C. Green, Jordan M. Green, Andrew “A. J.” Green II, Austin J. Green, and Kinley R. Case; brother, Walter Syble Geiger; and sister, Helen Duncan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Freeland; daughter, Lynnette Freeland; parents August and Edna Svendsen Geiger; sisters, Georgia Perry and Katherine Hopson.
