Leopold, 85, of Freeport, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Presence St. Joseph.Born May 25, 1931 in Union County, Tennessee she was the daughter of John and Cornelia (Benfield) Wilkerson. She married Robert Leopold April 15, 1953 and he died in 2002.Jewel worked for Honeywell Micro Switch for 25 years.She was a member of Cedarville United Methodist Church in Cedarville.
An avid reader, she enjoyed flowers, birds, travel, camping under the pines with her grandkids, and talking politics with her brother. The light of her life was spending time with her family and her beloved cat, Purry. Surviving are her children, Rebecca (Kenneth) Polkinghorn of New Glarus, Wisconsin, David Leopold of Laramie, Wyoming, Brenda (Marc) Rene of Chepachet, Rhode Island, and Connie King of Roscoe; her brother Carson (Laverne) Wilkerson of Tennessee; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 brothers; 5 sisters; and her son-in-law, David King.
