Jesus “El Chief” Briones, 62, often referred to as Chuy, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Combes, Texas, surrounded by his family. Jesus was born on November 13, 1953 in Harlingen, Texas to Isabel Martinez and Jesus Briones, Sr. He attended Harlingen High School and then shortly after moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was one to throw the rule book out the window and lived life the way he saw fit. Those that knew him couldn’t help but love him, he was that brother and uncle that always had a way with words.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Juanita Perez; brothers, Samuel Martinez, Jose Martinez, and Esteban Briones; and nephew Esteban Casas.
Jesus is survived by both his parents; and his sisters, Anita Briones (Jose Cruz), Pat Soto (Richard), Lupita Martinez, and Alicia Briones. He is also survived by his brothers, Arturo Espindola (Rosalia) and Gerald Dalum, Sr. (Sylvia); and numerous nephews and nieces.
