Jessie Mae Norwood McGraw, a resident of Jackson, transitioned from this life Feb. 2, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 18, 1942 to Dora King and Jesse Norwood. Jessie was a friendly neighbor to all. Her hobbies included knitting, watching soap operas, and eating sweets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary McGraw Sr.; son, Derrick McGraw; four siblings, Joe Norwood, Danny Norwood, John Yates and Catherine Southall; and two devoted friends, Jenny Lou McReynolds and Dorothy King.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Anisa (Sherman) Norwood of Jackson; four sons, David (Deborah) McGraw, Steve (Iris) McGraw, Gary McGraw Jr. and Johnny McGraw, all of Jackson; 12 grandchildren, one devoted, Shacourtney “Pourtney” Norwood; three sisters, Charlotte Powell of Sunny South, and Ethel Norwood and Linda Norwood, both of Birmingham; five brothers, Charles (Betty) Norwood, Robert (Cora) Norwood and Raymond (Bobbie) Norwood, all of Sunny South, Reginald (Frankie) Southall of Pine Hill and Tommie (Dorothy) Norwood of Tuscaloosa; three sisters-in-law, Viola Norwood of Sunny South, Daisy McGraw and Jeanette McGraw, both of Birmingham; four brothers-in-law, Aundre McGraw, Victor McGraw, Carl McGraw and Walter (Darlene) McGraw, all Birmingham; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
