Mrs. Jessie Mae Jacob was born September 21, 1933, to Irene and Jules Alexander in Alexandria, LA. She grew up in Marksville, LA. She passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022 in Alexandria, LA.
Jessie caught the eye of her late husband, Matthew Jacob and they married on June 25, 1949 and had five children. They later moved to Baton Rouge for several years and then on to Berkeley, California, where they resided for about 40 years and in retirement moved back to Marksville. After they retired and moved back to Marksville, they both were long time members of St.
Jessie graduated high school. She then completed her medical terminology certification at Heald’s College, Oakland, California. She retired from Herrick Hospital in Berkeley, California. She was a song writer and singer. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved gardening and entertaining for family and friends with great food, music, especially holidays and spontaneously. She loved cooking and creating new dishes that everyone loved. She was the best Mom!
Her husband, Matthew Jacob, preceded her in death in December 2013 they were married at that time 64 years. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Irene & Jules Alexander; grandparents, Rose & Israel Frank; loving sister, Lillie Young Vason; brother, Leroy Alexander; and host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jessie cherished and deeply loved her children, family, and friends. She leaves to cherish her loving memories to five children: Julia McCoy; Irene Coulter; Dr. Mack Jacob; Edward Lee Jacob (Maritess); and Marilyn Rodriquez. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Anthony, Bridgid (Don), James, Jessie, Shaun, Devin (Myles), Andrea (Martina), Katiuscia (Mattia), Brian, Amanda, Mercedez (Tom), and Blake; and 10 great-grandchildren: Acen, Jamilet, Gabriella, Alexander, Tai, Imani, Mahogany, Adele, Hayden, and Harper; sisters-in-law: Ivory Jacob; Eardis Johnson Jacob (Sister); brother-in-law, Eddie Young; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
