Jessie Joy Stevens, age 100, passed away on July 28, 2019.
Joy was born in Sydney, Australia. She earned a teaching degree and served in the Australian Military, where she worked in support of General Douglas MacArthur. After the war, Joy immigrated to the United States, originally moving to California, before settling in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1963.
Joy remained in Hawaii for most of her life, raising her children and building her career in Real Estate as a Realtor and broker. Joy was an avid swimmer, attaining the number 2 ranking in Australia at that time, and served as an alternate for the Australian Olympic Team, as Australia allowed one delegate that year. In addition to swimming. Joy had a love of body surfing and snorkeling.
Joy was the beloved mother of Barbara Tam, Gordon Stevens (Akiko), and Robert Stevens (Hazel); loving grandmother of Laura, Lindsay, and David; and adored great-grandmother of five.
