Brunswick – Jessie E. Slater Miller, 99, of Pinewoods Avenue died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at her residence after a long illness.
Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Matthew J. Slater and Eva Johnson Slater and wife for 76 years of Irvin E. Miller. She had resided in the Troy area since 1938, marrying in April of 1938 on Easter Sunday, and was a graduate of Green Island Schools, Cohoes High School and Troy Business College.
Jessie was a secretary for the former Cohoes Rolling Mill and later worked with her husband on the family dairy farm in Brunswick.
She was a Leader of the 4-H Lively Homemaking Club, a member of the Rensselaer County Home Bureau and the member of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church where she joined in organizing the rummage sale, holiday bazaar and dinners. She was well known for her chili recipe sold at the bazaar. Jessie was active in Brunswick #1 School PTA (now as the George Washington School.)
Survivors in addition to her husband include two daughters, Sheila Sullivan, Brunswick and Lynne Miller, East Thetford, VT; two grandsons, James I. (Theresa) Sullivan and Jeffrey R. (Mark Heidorn) Sullivan and a granddaughter, Pamela (James) Pultorak; granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Sullivan; seven great grandchildren, James I. Sullivan II, Cassie Powell, Haley Sullivan, Cynthia Allen, Stephanie (Jon) Graves, Jennifer Pultorak and Jaimee (Chris) Knowlton; four great great grandchildren, Alyssa and Gavin Allen, Isabella Knowlton and Violet Graves. She was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Morris.
