Jessie Ann Mitchell was born on February 22, 1959 to Christine Johnson and late Lonnie Johnson.
Jessie confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Mariah Missionary Baptist Church in Yantley, AL and served faithfully as Vice President of Home Ministry, active leader in the Youth Department, and other offices in the church. She was a member of Eastern Star Brookins Chapter #166. In 1986, Jessie Ann Johnson united in marriage to George Mitchell. Unto this Union three children were born. Jessie Ann graduated from Choctaw County High School in 1977. She furthered her education at Mary Holmes College for two years. She later Graduated from Stillman College, Tuscaloosa, AL with a degree in Accounting. Jessie Ann Mitchell worked for Choctaw County Board of Education for 25 years in Special Education. She was involved in various youth programs for the children she so dearly loved. She was a troop leader for Girl Scouts of the Deep South for over 20 years. She actively served at the Lisman Volunteer Fire Department as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She served on several boards in the Town of Lisman. She was always an active leader in Planning the Choctaw County Reunion.
The external life of Jessie Ann Mitchell expired on July 7, 2015 at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital on the Palliative Care Unit. Two sisters preceded her in death – Lela (Vernon) Harbin and Mary Irby of Lisman, AL. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, three children, Keaundra Johnson, Seattle, WA, Darris (Johnquitta) Johnson Lisman,AL , and Jetta Mitchell, Homewood, AL. Her mother Christine Johnson, Yantley, AL. One brother Lonnie (Judy) Johnson, Columbus, GA. Two sisters Dessie (Archie ) Thompkins, Lisman, AL; and Leisa Johnson, Atlanta GA. One grandchild Mckenzie Ann Johnson, Lisman, AL. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. She leaves a lot of children in love,
