Jesse W. Wamsley, Sr., 74, of Moberly, passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife, Libby, by his side on Saturday, July 10, 2021. He was born October 31, 1946, in Clarksville, MO, to Truman L. Wamsley and Etha T (Beers) Wamsley.

He is survived by his wife Libby (Headrick) who he married on September 17, 1983. They enjoyed 37 years of an exciting marriage, together raising 8 children, all surviving.  Wayne (Norma) Wamsley, Lee (Amy) Wamsley, Michelle (Bill) Scheuring, Tony (Melissa) Wamsley, Bryan (Jill) Davis, Jennifer (Andy) Sunderland, Laura (Robert) Ancell, and Jessica (Mackenzie) Wamsley.  He was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister Betty Painter of Missouri, Mother-in-Law Pat Headrick of Moberly, and numerous other family and friends.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Lee, Raymond, Coy, and Thelma Wamsley, infant Granddaughter Marie Wamsley and Father-in-Law Harold Headrick.

Jesse started his career as a cable lineman in 1966 at just 20 years old. He spent the next 20 years building and gaining knowledge of the Telecommunications industry before investing in Mississippi Valley Communications, Inc, where he later became President/Owner. Jesse’s history and accomplishments in the cable industry were recently accepted in The Cable Center, a cable TV museum, in Denver, Colorado.

Jesse was always looking for something new and exciting and he and his family started many new business ventures in the Moberly area, including Fiber-Optic Cable Construction, Internet, Convenience Store, and his favorite venture, Bud’s Place. After a long day of work, you could find him at his round table in the corner with a Miller lite pony and a glass of tomato juice.

In Jesse’s downtime, he loved being at home on his farm, working in the garage, raising cattle, fishing, and mushroom hunting.
