Jesse “Jay” Wheeler, 80, of Carlisle, departed this life Saturday, October 15, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Jesse was born April 25, 1936, in Johnson County, Ky., to the late Jesse and Sylvia Taylor Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virgia.
He is survived by 2 sons, James (Rose) Tackett of Flemingsburg, and Garry (Gina) Tackett of Hollywood, Florida; a daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Evans of Carlisle; a very special granddaughter-in-law, Daphne Myers; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Princena Tackett, Mary Dailey (both of Flemingsburg), Lilly Clouse of Paintsville; 1 brother, Troy Wheeler of Paintsville; a special sister-in-law, Kathy Wheeler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jesse was a retired carpenter but he was so much more than that. He was a loving husband, a devoted dad, teacher, grandfather, friend and so much more. He was very loved and touched the lives of so many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and deeply loved camping.
