Jesse McCarty passed away January 27, 2010 at the age of 86. He was well known to Taft residents as the co-owner and operator of McCarty Brothers and for carrying the American flag at football games and parades. He was a Navy veteran and longtime member of the American Legion and the BPO Elks. Jesse is survived by his wife, Goldie; daughters, Lynne (David) Calvillo and Pam (Jim) Stangland; granddaughters, Melinda (Don) Wilmot and Kimberly (Don) McDonald; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola and grandson, Aaron Stangland.
