Upland: Jess D. Jones, 78, passed away September 8, 2013, in his residence.
He was born in Fairmount to the late Wilbur “Short” and Elva (Tetrick), Jones. He graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1952. He married Opal Dishman on October 4, 1980, in New Castle. She survives. Mr. Jones, who was employed at General Motors, in Marion for 32 years as a production worker, was a lifetime member of Amvets and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time with friends and family.
Including his wife of nearly 33 years, Opal, he is survived by a son, Jacob Jones, Upland; a grandson, Landan D. Jones, Maysville, North Carolina; three nephews, Daniel (Cheryl) Spencer, James (Lynette) Spencer, and Jason (Cindy) Spencer, all of Upland; two nieces, Beth (Jeff) Sewell, Covington, Kentucky, and Lisa (Ron) Altum, Upland; two brothers-in-law, Dale Spencer, Upland, and Guy Dishman, New Castle; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Spencer, on June 5, 2011.
