Jerry was born on September 14, 1931 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to his parents Jerry Williams, Sr. and Lillie B. Isby Williams. He was raised with his sister, Melvia. He attended elementary school in the Holly Grove School District until eighth grade. On April 14, 1955, Jerry wed Benolia Young. To this union Willie, Barnett, Alice, Jessie Betty, and James were born. This marriage was later dissolved. All the children remember their father’s laugh, and his humorous personality. Jerry was later blessed to have 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They fondly remember all the happy memorable moments they all shared together. By profession, Jerry was employed by the Denver Petroleum Club. His co-workers remember him as being a hard worker, dedicated and a person who worked well with others. He was a man who led by example. He would never ask anyone to perform a task that he would not first do himself. In the 35 years he worked for the company, Jerry was awarded several “Employee of the Month” certificates because of his ability to organize and keep food well stocked in the kitchen, which feed over twelve thousand meals each month. Jerry was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled.
