Jerry Wayne Evans, age 76, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
He was born in Newnan on August 26, 1944, to the late Ralph Wayne Evans and Opal Robertson Evans. Jerry grew up in the Moreland community and has remained close to his Moreland ties throughout his lifetime. He graduated from Newnan High School in 1962 where he excelled in athletics—baseball, basketball, and football. He also excelled in making many high school friends. He attended Troy State University after graduation. Jerry began working at Delta Airlines in 1964. He remained at Delta for 36 years where he continued to make even more friends. Jerry never met a stranger and he could tell a joke like no other. His winning personality and gift of gab will be forever remembered. Jerry is survived by his wife, Dianne Evans; children, Nikki Evans Burnes (Steve), Chris Haynie (Denise), Robin Garmany (Scott); grandchildren, Kennedy, Stevie, Bryson, Kaitlin, Whitni, Kristen, Carter, Craig, Molly, and three great-grandchildren, Conner, Campbell, and Denver. He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn Lamb (Dale) and Betty Baird.
