Jerry Sonberg, 75 of Caldwell, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015.
Jerry was born August 1, 1940 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Peter and Elnora Allred Sonberg. After becoming ill in 2010, Jerry and his sister, Joanne, went to live with care providers, Blanca and Jose Jasso. Jerry was the most amazing brother to Joanne. He always made sure she was taken care of, always.
Jerry, My Friend
I first saw Jerry years ago when I was just a teenager, I am now 68 years old. I watched Jerry and his sister, Joanne, several times walk across 10th Ave toward the Paul’s Market area. What was odd to me then was how fast they walked. I never imagined I would be caring for both of them someday and becoming friends, knowing how nice and gentle this slinky long legged looking tall fellow really was, that he would become a big part of my life someday. Jerry had a great sense of humor, I mean anyone who can put up with my silly remarks and jokes has to have a good sense of humor, but I am glad I was able to make him laugh.
We both enjoyed watching football and classic movies, reminiscing about our past, talking about people we knew, as we often did, and going out to The Golden Corral to eat. Another special thing we enjoyed very much was when we were able to go to “pick it yourself” orchards and walk through the peach and cherry orchards and pick our own fruit, this Jerry and Joanne, Blanca and I enjoyed a lot.
