Jerry Robert Wilkes was called home to the Lord on May 4, 2019. He is survived by wife Dianne, daughter Sarah Avery and her husband, Jim; daughter Karen Herfurth and her husband, John; son Todd Wilkes and his wife, Dawn; and son Chad Wilkes and his wife, Jesse; as well as 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Jerry began his career as an electrician in the 1960s, working in Pennsylvania, upstate New York and Florida. After operating a billiards supply company in the 1970s, he worked with Johnson Controls in Cape Canaveral before opening electric businesses Diane Electric and West Side Electric. In the mid-1980s, he became co-owner and then sole owner of Kirby Electric, from which he retired in 2017. Kirby Electric is still operated by his son, Chad.
For fun, Jerry enjoyed golfing at Turtle Creek Golf Course in Rockledge, Florida, where he met many good friends and hosted several Toys 4 Tots golf tournaments and toy drives.
