Jerry Rae passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 26, 2018. She was 80 years old. Jerry Rae Donnenwerth was born on September 17, 1937 in Saginaw to the late Rae and Lila (Mack) Donnenwerth. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1955. Following graduation she attended Ferris State University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Design and Retail Management. Jerry Rae worked for Winkelmen’s, Jacobson’s, Albert’s, Carter Management, and enjoyed interior design. She was a faithful member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, serving on the church board. She was an active member of Seniors helping Seniors and enjoyed volunteering with the Underground Railroad. Jerry Rae loved to travel, visiting: Hawaii, Mexico, Florida and the beach. She also enjoyed listening to music, swimming, diving, drawing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jerry Rae is survived by her husband, Harry R. Vitek; daughter, Debra Lee Gardner; grandchildren: Lisa Gardner, Lori Gardner and Lexi Gardner; step-daughter, Kristina Gunderson; step-grandchildren: Jordin Gunderson and Masen Gunderson; a dear cousin who was like a brother to her: Grant Mack (Bonnie) Thormeier.
