Jerry Matthew Alexander, Sr., 57, of East Palatka, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Palatka and had spent most of his life in Putnam County. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator and in his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. Matt was a Christian and had a strong relationship with the Lord. He shared his strong work ethic and Christian values with his family and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Floyd Lee Alexander, Fred Alexander, and Thumper Alexander.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alyce Alexander of East Palatka, son, Jerry “Matthew” Alexander, Jr., and wife Leslie of Lyons, GA, daughters, Candace Grace Alexander and Hannah Rose Alexander both of East Palatka, parents, Jr. and Ollie Ann Alexander of East Palatka, siblings, Cathy Ridenhour of Arkansas, Melanie Alexander of Longwood, FL, Stephen Alexander and Rebekah Alexander both of East Palatka, and grandchildren, Jake, Bentley, and Reid Alexander.
