     Jerry Lee Duffey Easterwood “Dumpy” passed away Wednesday, August 18th at East Alabama Medical Center after a long battle with COPD and rheumatoid arthritis.

     She was preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years, Bradley Easterwood and her father, Ralph Duffey. She is survived by sons, Lance (Amy) Easterwood and Jud (Christine) Easterwood. Her mother, Lurline Hannah, sister Linda (Larry) Sims and brother Steve (Pam) Duffey. She had five grandchildren, Grant, Grace, Leah, Grayson and Bryce. She also had a niece that was like a daughter to her, Amber (Toby) Sides and one nephew, Kenny (Lee Ann) Sims.

     Jerry Lee was born on September 24th, 1948. She graduated from Lanett High School in 1966 and married the love of her life later that year. She gave birth to her first son in 1972 and decided to stay home to raise her family. She always put her family first. As her children got older and into school, she decided to go to college and become a teacher. She graduated from Auburn in 1983 with a BS in Education. She continued her education and got her Masters (91) and EDS (93) from Troy University. As a teacher, she touched the lives of hundreds of children. She taught most of her career at Fairfax Elementary and WF Burns Middle School. She loved science and space. One of her favorite days at was rocket day when the children would build model rockets and launch them.

     After retiring, she loved spending time with her family, traveling and spending time at the casino. She was an active member at Lanett First Christian Church until her health prevented her from attending.
